Okay, maybe just a *little* bit more fireweed. It's so cheery! At our guard station there was a little bit right in the lawn, which mystified us until we realized someone had run a trench through there maybe a year ago. It's a very good pioneer species no matter the circumstances, apparently.

A few odds and ends from the hike to Cobalt Lake. The little white dot in the third one is a goat who was observing us from high up. Hope it was having a good day.

Paintbrush, fireweed, and huckleberries made a pretty good trifecta. We'd lucked out and found quite a few thimbleberries, as well, but good ones were bit rare – more often, they were slightly mealy.

The "bowl" of Iceberg Lake; we felt lucky as there was still quite a bit of snow.

Hello from Alberta – we'd just gone to Waterton Lakes for the day, but enjoyed nosing around a bit. Here's Blakiston Falls.
